Job-seekers all fired up

11 August 2008

MORE than 40 local job-seekers are all fired up with new skills to gain employment after job-training program centred on the Rural Fire Service offices in Kingswood organised by Wesley Uniting Employment.

The job-seekers will graduate on Monday, 11 August from their six-month program at a ceremony at 11 am at the Outer West Rural Fire Service headquarters at 6, Cox Avenue, Kingswood.

For their training, the 41 Work for the Dole participants worked on the refurbishment of the fire service premises. In the process they learned skills in areas such as cleaning, maintenance and landscaping, first aid, teamwork, effective communication, asbestos awareness, manual handling and change management.

Their work has been of benefit to the whole community, which depends on the efficient working of the Rural Fire Service when the bushfire season bites.

Editors: Wesley Uniting Employment Operations Manager, Chris England will be at the ceremony and can speak on WUE’s operations, like the one at Kingswood, that assist not-for-profit organisations through the Work for the Dole program.

Some participants in this program will also be happy to speak to the media.
