Launch of Wesley Mission's Winter Appeal
11 May 2007
Homeless and disadvantaged people across the State will be given the opportunity to ‘reconnect’ with their mums on Mothers Day (May 13) thanks to Telstra which is supporting the launch of Wesley Mission’s 2007 winter appeal.
Some 2000 $5 Telstra phone cards are being distributed by Wesley Mission to the needy throughout Sydney and the State enabling children – both young and old – to phone their mums.
The Rev Keith Garner, CEO of Wesley Mission will launch the charity’s winter appeal at a doorstop news conference outside the Mission’s head office, 220 Pitt Street, Sydney beginning at 11.00 am this Sunday, May 13.
The Rev Garner will give details of Wesley Mission’s appeal and address key issues relating to homelessness. He will also be distributing Telstra phone cards, providing opportunities for TV vision and photos at Telstra phone booths at nearby Pitt Street Mall and Market Street.
“It is important that each of us seeks to restore a damaged or broken relationship, especially on Mothers’ Day” the Rev Garner said. “Telstra’s generous donation will help children reconnect with their mums and pave the way for a better relationship in the future.”
The cards have been kindly provided as part of Telstra's Access for Everyone programs.
